Business Process and System Optimization
The objective of optimizing processes and system performance is to provide IT services at the optimal cost, which involves identifying those service areas where costs can be saved quickly and easily, without any risk to competitiveness. Transparency in terms of value for money is achieved by comparing terms against the market (benchmarking).
Based on this, IT is then optimized by means of various coordinated measures, e.g.:
- Standardizing and reducing uncontrolled IT growth
- Deriving make-or-buy decisions/outsourcing
- Renegotiating provider contracts
- Restructuring IT organizational or operational structure
- Centralizing/decentralizing IT responsibility
- Establishing or expanding an IT controlling function or internal transfer pricing
- Streamlining the project portfolio
Contracts with service providers should be benchmarked on a regular basis. The current situation on the provider market gives companies new room for maneuver when negotiating, even in terms of existing contracts. Potential savings can thus be achieved quickly, in a socially acceptable manner, and without sacrificing performance.
