Platform Screen Doors for the Hongkong Subway System
A total of 74 different platforms, each around 400m in length, on the Hongkong subway system were to be equipped with platform screen doors. Platform screen doors separate the platforms from the tracks and improve the energy balance (air-conditioning) and personal safety enormously. The close integration at Helbling Technik of a great variety of different skills (structural construction, calculation/simulation, software engineering, civil engineering, physics, etc.) and the ability to carry out large and complex projects were important success factors in this global project.
